Roland Palmer is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist, producer, arranger and recording engineer. Roland studied music at The University of Manchester, where he specialised in performance and composition, and then completed a masters’ degree in Music Production at Leeds Beckett University.
Roland currently tours with Keane’s Tom Chaplin, having recently completed a UK tour as well as national radio appearances on BBC Radio 2 and Absolute Radio.
In 2019/20, Roland held the Cello/Guitar chair on Waitress The Musical at The Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End, and in 2021 he continued in this role for its UK tour.
As a multi-instrumentalist, Roland has worked with numerous artists across the country both on tour and in the studio, most notably Warner/Atlantic artist JASMINE THOMPSON (touring the UK, US, Europe and the Far East), The Travelling Band, Ren Harvieu and Chloe Foy, and continues to produce and play guitar for his own project Lesbian Plebian. He has shared billing with such acts as Foo Fighters, Rick Astley, Pixie Lott, The Magic Numbers, OPM, The Vamps, The Feeling, Turin Brakes, and Electric Six, and played venues such as Wembley Arena, The Cluj Arena and The Docks (Hamburg), and at festivals such as Glastonbury, SummerSonic (Tokyo/Osaka), Home Festival (Italy) and Untold Festival (Romania). He has featured on television in the UK and France, appearing on The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent, Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, Made in Chelsea and the RFM Radio Show in Paris.
Roland’s production and mixing credits most recently include Chloë Foy, and as an engineer, Roland has assisted Emmy-winning composer Jennie Muskett (Spooks, The Prince and Me, Miss Austen Regrets) and Olga FitzRoy (Coldplay, Seasick Steve, MPG Recording Engineer of the Year 2016).
